Sagebooks APP is simple and easy to use. With a single parent’s account you can manage multiple children’s accounts, tailor each individual study plan to their unique needs, and get reminder of each child’s progress and plan of the day. In the coming weeks, we will share with you some insider tips to help you best utilise the APPs functions so you can help your child step up in their listening, reading aloud, writing, and reading.
In this post, we will look at ways to encourage your child to READ ALOUD.
Archaeologists and historians discovered from ancient tablets that the word “to read” actually meant “to read aloud and to listen” in those days. It is evident from one of the messages on an ancient tablet: “Please listen to this table carefully, and if it deemed necessary please also ask the king to listen to it.” More and more studies are suggesting that something might be missed when we are reading in silence now.
There is no more doubt that reading aloud helps us remember the contents better. This is especially true to older people and young children. Scientists called it the “production effect” – when we produced the sounds of the words that we read, we form more enduring memory of the contents as a result.
There are many benefits to the child when they read aloud. First of all, it improves their pronunciation. This is not to say that we correct them whenever we here a mistake. Rather, they continually correct and refine themselves when they hear themselves read. Secondly, it improves our comprehension. When we read aloud, our reading speed naturally slows down, allowing us more time to process the information in our heads. Even for adults, it’s very common that we read out loud important documents (such as contracts and fine prints) to make sure that we haven’t missed or misunderstood anything. This is particularly true for children. Other benefits also include improved focus, learning new vocabulary, and even improving their listening skills.
Practicing reading aloud boosts your child’s confidence. On one hand, all the points we just discussed would boost your child’s self-confidence. Further, it’s very common for teachers at school to call upon students to read aloud in front of the whole class. When your child has had practice at home, they would be confident about their pronunciation and their skills. They would happily read in front of the class and feel good about themselves.
現在,你可以利用Sagebooks APP的功能,參考下面的五招,讓孩子練習朗讀,全面提升孩子的學習素質了。
Follow any, or all, of the 5 tips below, and make use of Sagebooks APP to help your child practice reading aloud and improve the quality of their study.
打開Sagebooks APP,掃一掃要學習的那課第一頁左下角的QR,播放課文音頻。聽過兩、三次之後,聽一句,讀一句,最好讓孩子自己用食指指着課文引導視線。當孩子對課文純熟,感到有把握了,進展到聽一課,讀一課。
Open the Sagebooks APP, scan the QR at the bottom left corner of each lesson. Simply listen to the recording of the whole lesson 2-3 times. Then repeat after each sentence while following the text. Encourage your child to use their index finger to point at the text and guide their eyes. Once your child gets good that that, progress to listening to the whole lesson then read the whole lesson aloud.
當孩子同一課讀到第三/第四天時,對課文已經熟悉了,可以由孩子自己先朗讀,然後對比課文錄音,檢查自己是否讀得正確。
On the 3rd or 4th day of reading a same lesson, your child would be sufficiently familiar with it. Ask your child to read it aloud first, then listen to the recording and check how well they have read.
用Sagebooks APP的錄音功能,錄下孩子朗讀的音頻,然後存放到APP裏。盡量做到每天錄一課,或最少錄一句。小孩子一般都很喜歡聽回自己的錄音,這個方法能鼓勵他們多朗讀。
Sagebooks APP有存檔的功能,能為你保存所有已存檔的音頻,作為日後必要時的用途。
Make use of Sagebooks APP’s recording function to record your child’s reading and save the clip to the APP. Try to record at least one sentence each day. A lesson a day is much encouraged. Children love to listen back to their own recordings. This becomes a game and it encourages them to practice reading aloud more.
The Sagebooks APP can help you keep a profile of each of your children’s recordings. They could come in handy in several ways in the future.
下載思展網站的各級閱讀練習 (免費),利用Sagebooks APP的錄音功能做朗讀錄音,並上載存檔。
Download the free reading practice of each level from our website. Encourage your child to read them aloud, record them and upload to the APP.
孩子聆聽自己的朗讀音頻,日復一日,可以聽到自己的進步。在這過程中,孩子會逐步改善發音、聲調、朗讀的情感表現、聲線、速度等,提升朗讀和談吐的表現。
思展將逐步推出由專業教師「改卷及評語」,可以就孩子的朗讀表現提供評語,供家長參考,協助孩子不斷進步。請密切留意詳情的公佈。
When your child regularly record and listen back to their own recordings, they can hear their own progress. In this process, they continue to refine their pronunciation, intonations, expressions, speed, pitch and voice of their reading. All these would promote their articulation and speech.
