One of my fondest memories with my father as a child was when he would receive our report cards from school. He would always say, “I know that you have worked hard for the reports & grades in those envelopes. When we open them, we will celebrate your hard work and your efforts. Today, the grade doesn’t matter, your efforts do, and we have seen you work hard every day.”
It always made me feel good about my efforts, and I carry that with me today. Even if a workday or a project doesn’t always go as planned, I celebrate my efforts and learn to move forward. I am thankful that he has taught me a powerful mindset tool.
