Learning and Mindset Through Self-Motivation

Whether you are hoping to climb Mount Everest, or just work on your next project, motivation can sometimes be hard to find. However, self-motivation is something we all have within us—it’s just a matter of how we can access that desire to better ourselves and achieve our goals. 

無論你是要實現攀爬珠穆朗瑪峰的志願、或是要完成下一個項目,有時我們無可避免地感到失去了鬥志和動力。然而,我們每個人的內在都有自我激勵的能力,就看我們是否懂得怎樣在需要的時候啟動那份渴求進步和達成目標的潛意。

Self-motivation can help children gain more confidence and learn how to deal with difficult situations. In this week’s summer learning & mindset sprint, we’ll be sharing a few tips to help your children practice self-motivation. 

當孩子懂得怎樣自我激勵,他可以克服很多困難。這個星期,我們來看看怎樣和孩子練習自我激勵吧。

Positive Self-Talk
積極正面的自我遊說

You could be having a bad day, trying to accomplish a difficult task, or feeling down about yourself. When this happens, it’s important to know how to encourage yourself so that you can keep going and stay motivated. The same applies to small children. 

Positive self-talk is another form of self-motivation in which you speak with yourself through your own thoughts. When self-talk is negative or negative statements are made over and over again in your head, it can become detrimental to your mindset and chances of success. 

Self-talk can be used in two different ways: as affirmations or mantras, (“I am worthy.”) And as encouragement. Remind your children on a regular basis to try to change their negative thoughts into positive ones. 

可能你過了倒楣的一天,或是面對着一件艱難的任務,也許你就是感到低落沮喪。當你遇上這些情況,你只能自我激勵,繼續往前。小孩也一樣。

積極正面的自我遊說就是用你自己的思想和你自己說話。要是你自己總是在腦海裏不斷地對自己說些消極、負面的話,日復一日,必定會影響你的心態,也會減低成功率。

自我遊說有兩種方式:(1) 自我肯定,或是作為一個禪語 (例如:我很有貢獻能力);(2)自我鼓勵。要經常性地提醒你的孩子,使他們能有意識地將消極想法轉成為積極的想法。

Writing Positive Notes

Another great tip to foster self-motivation is to encourage your child to write themselves an encouragement note each morning. 

Encourage them to write things like: 

  • Today, I will achieve… 
  • Today, I am motivated to…

Anything to help your child know that they can achieve great things.

另一種簡單又有效的自我激勵方法是讓孩子每天早上寫一個有鼓勵性的短訊給自己。

這些短訊可以很簡單直接,比方說:

  • 今天,我會成功地完成⋯⋯
  • 今天,我對⋯⋯(做甚麼事情) 感到幹勁十足

之類,能令孩子意識到「我行」。

Self-motivation is the most important skill to have when it comes to achieving your goals and dreams. It allows you to stay focused on what is important, keep yourself accountable, and find ways around obstacles when they arise. By practicing self-motivation every day, you’ll be able to achieve more than you ever thought possible!

要能達成自己的目標和夢想,自我激勵是最重要的一種技能。因為它一方面能讓你專注於重要的事情,能使你做到對自己能有所交代,還能使你在遇上障礙時適當地應對。當你每天練習自我激勵,你將能成就你意想不到的事!
