從躍進級畢業後，這時的孩子開始發展抽象概念。
這個階段的孩子除了閱讀能力的提升，他們的思考模式也開始突破具體實物的局限，而導向各種抽象的意識。同時，由於他們開始認識到現實世界的多種常規，因此能體會到反常事物帶來的幽默感和詼諧，亦自然地會喜歡透過歸納推理去進行猜謎語之類的遊戲。
信心級把握4歲半孩子開始發展抽象概念和認知的高敏期，教導孩子認讀第四組100個漢字，其中包括大量情感、思維、抽象意念的字詞，幫助孩子認讀和理解他們這個年齡最感興趣的故事。
透過信心級基本課程孩子可以：
- 累積認讀400個最常用漢字
- 理解較抽象的字詞
- 認讀日常生活以外，包括幻想世界的人物、動物、情景等
- 可閱讀及理解信心級寶貝盒故事書
- 能閱讀並理解簡單寓言故事及童話故事
完成信心級的小朋友最少能認讀400個漢字。
適合約5歲以上孩子。
對於一些抽象意義的漢字，5歲以下的孩子往往雖然可以記住字形和讀音，但卻未必能理解這些字詞的確切含意。
The graduates of Building Reader begin to develop an understanding of abstract concepts. Along with increased reading ability, their minds start to break through the confinements of the concrete and physical world. Abstract thoughts start to form in their heads. With their understanding of the patterns and rules of our world, they begin to appreciate the humour that comes from certain abnormalities or irregularities. They begin to use logical thinking and to enjoy riddles.
Around 4½ years is the sensitive period for children to develop such an understanding of abstract concepts. Confident Reader grasps this opportunity and introduces a fourth set of 100 characters to your child. These include a rich depository of words that describe emotions, thoughts and abstract concepts. They help children of this age to read and to comprehend what they are most interested to learn about.
The learning outcomes of CONFIDENT READER are:
- To read the 400 most commonly used characters accumulatively.
- To understand some words that describe abstract ideas.
- To read and to understand stories beyond their everyday life.
- To read and to understand TREASURE BOX (Confident Reader) story books.
- To read and to understand simple fables and fairy tales.
CONFIDENT READER is for children 5 years and up.
(Although some characters may seem easy for a younger child to learn and remember, they may not be able to fully understand the abstract ideas. Therefore, we recommend to wait until your child is cognitively ready before starting Confident Reader.)
